Startup idea #6: Personal Relationship Management (PRM) dating platform

Updated: Dec 21, 2022

Idea: Personal relationship management software (like customer relationship management software e.g. Salesforce or Hubspot), but for dating. It could work alongside Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, Instagram and Coffee Meets Bagel.

Problem: Between your partying, socialising, and online dating you lose track of the people that you have met, and drift out of contact.

Insight: Targeting people in their late 20’s, and early 30’s who are looking for ‘the one’, and believe that being more structured would help them have a more successful dating life.

Validation method: Create a fake instagram ad and get the traffic to an app download page as normal. Text idea: “Need help finding a Bae?” For the product validation, ask a few of the users if you can provide them with a Telegram PRM bot. You can code a really simple bot where they can put in status of the people they meet. They will get reminders and you can see success over three weeks.

Notes: While it may make logical sense to use a dating PRM, logic is often thrown aside in pursuit of love. People may feel that it’s objectifying their romantic prospects. People may feel desperate. There are many reasons that this product would not work, which is why the validation stage needs to be done very well.

Why am I doing this? I’m an innovation consultant who helps businesses build new products, and ventures. And I want people to see how easy it is to build, and validate an initial business idea. Hopefully inspiring them to start their own business.

Am I worried that people will take the ideas? I hope they do. These ideas will hopefully make the world a better place. Just remember, “Ideas are cheap. Execution is everything”. What’s most likely is that within a month of testing the idea, the idea would have completely pivoted, but this is a starting point.
